Best Claude Code GUI Tools in 2026, Compared Honestly

Search “Claude Code GUI” and you’ll find a dozen tools that all promise the same thing: use Claude Code without living in a terminal. They are not the same kind of tool. Some are remote web UIs, some are desktop wrappers around the CLI’s settings, some are full visual workspaces, and some — including ours — think the GUI should be a project board.

Disclosure up front: Instify is our app. This list is honest anyway, because the fastest way to lose a reader is to pretend the alternatives don’t exist. Pick by category, not by screenshot.

Desktop session managers

opcode — the most popular open-source Claude Code GUI by community size (~21k GitHub stars). Built with Tauri, it manages interactive sessions, custom agents, background runs, and usage tracking. If you want a free, hackable session manager and don’t mind rough edges, start here.

Claudia — a polished visual interface for Claude Code sessions with project management touches. Similar territory to opcode with more design attention.

AgentsRoom — Electron-based; agents as cards in a grid with live terminal streams. Simple mental model, good for watching several sessions at once.

Remote / web UIs

CloudCLI (claudecodeui) — open-source web UI that lets you run and manage Claude Code (plus Codex, Cursor CLI, and others) from a browser or phone. The pick if your use case is “kick off and check agents from anywhere,” and you’re comfortable self-hosting.

Config-and-everything wrappers

claude-code-gui (markes76) — a desktop wrapper for the CLI’s whole surface: CLAUDE.md editing, memory, MCP servers, skills, hooks, permissions. Less about running work, more about administering Claude Code visually. There’s also a JetBrains plugin if you want Claude Code inside your IDE rather than beside it.

Visual workspaces

Nimbalyst — open source, cross-platform (macOS/Windows/Linux), runs Claude Code and Codex side by side with visual editors for markdown, mockups, and diagrams, a session kanban board, worktree isolation, and an iOS companion. Product boards
